Carpets are spectacular interior elements, which, despite the complexity of caring for them, do not lose popularity. Modern carpets, unlike paths and palas from the Soviet past, look presentable, help to emphasize the individuality of the design of the office space and create a cozy, relaxed atmosphere in the workplace.
The peculiarity of carpets operation lies in their texture: it does not matter whether it is wool, viscose, jute or polyamide – woven covering quickly accumulates dust and as if attracts dirt. Carpets used in places with a high traffic of people: office premises, administrative buildings, hotel complexes require special attention.
On such a scale, as a rule, special equipment and compositions are used. We will tell you how, how to clean the carpet in the office quickly and effectively without special means and professional equipment.
Individual approach to each covering
Methods of carpet cleaning are divided into dry and wet. Exposure to water is well tolerated by some coverings and completely unsuitable for others.
There is no one-size-fits-all carpet cleaning method. The materials from which carpets are made, when removing stains require an individual approach. Otherwise, the dirt will not only remain in the same place, but the product will be spoiled.
- Synthetics (acrylic, polyester, polyamide)
Such carpet coverings, as a rule, do not have an adhesive backing, so they can be both cleaned and washed. Do not worry about the color – it will remain the same after exposure to any means.
- Semi-synthetic material
For such carpets, you can use special store means and solutions based on soda, vinegar and laundry soap.
- Wool
Usually wool products are cleaned with a vacuum cleaner, but about once a year they can be treated with a solution of laundry soap. Such carpets are contraindicated with products that have bleach in their composition. They can not be cleaned against the pile and use salt to remove dirt, because it corrodes the basis of the carpeting.
- Cotton, linen
Cotton and linen floor coverings are cleaned dry with baking soda.
- Jute
Jute is cleaned exclusively dry without the use of harsh chemicals. Intending to clean a jute carpet, you should forget about using steam and brushes with stiff bristles. You will need a cleaning powder and a powerful vacuum cleaner.
- Knitted fabric
The material does not tolerate wet cleaning very well. Knitted carpets should be dry-cleaned.
- Silk
Do not clean with soap or shampoo. Silk also does not tolerate steam treatment. A carpet made of this delicate material can only be cleaned with vinegar.
